A&B Diocesan Seminarian Ordained to the Diaconate on the Way to Priesthood

Rev Gerard Hatton was ordained by Bishiop Kieran Conry to the diaconate on Saturday 26th June at St Johns Seminary. The ordination mass was a beautful and happy occassion for Gerard, the staff and seminarians at St Johns, his family and friends. Gerard will serve as a deacon at Christ the Prince of Peace parish in Weybridge where he has just finished an extended pastoral placement.

He grew up in Redhill among a large extended family that originates from Calcutta. Gerard worked in catering after leaving school but remembers that his first thought of becoming a priest was when he received his first communion. “I had a real sense of how amazing priesthood is and I felt drawn to the priesthood.”

We look forward to his ordination to the priesthood in the near future and a joyful future of serving the church in ordained ministry.
