Barbara has raised thousands of pounds for the Parish and has made vestments for the Priests, cloths for the Altar and has used her creative talents to build a small lectern for the priests and ambos for the choir. She has made and painted the Christmas crib and the Easter garden, Stations of the Cross in the grounds and set up the Garden of Remembrance for deceased Parishioners. She is currently the Liturgy Rep on the Parish Pastoral Team; Sacristan and leader of the Choir. Until recently she was a member of the Diocesan Pastoral Team. The Parish are delighted that Barbara has received this Award for her boundless enthusiasm for projects around the Church.
Pat Lee has served the Church at Holy Redeemer both boy and man! After he made his First Holy Communion he became an altar boy and 65 years later he still regularly serves at Holy Mass. As a young man Pat helped the Parish Priests to set up a youth club, ran a successful football team and took part in Parish Pantomimes, Passion Plays etc. He joined the SVP when it started in the parish and has continued to be heavily involved with it since and he visits the sick and housebound regularly. Pat is the Mission Rep on the Parish Pastoral Team.
Pat, too, has creative talents, having trained as a baker and confectioner – every Parish celebration for the last 40 years has had a Pat Lee decorated cake. His Eccles cakes are famous as are his Christmas cakes. Whenever a job needs to be done, Pat is your man, he is always one of the first to offer help and a good job can be relied upon. Pat is a member of the Secular Franciscan Order. Pat is one of the best loved Parishioners and as a Parish we are so happy that he has been recognised with this special Papal award.
After Mass the Parish celebrated in the Hall with a buffet in true Hollington style.
