The Second Vatican Council in Rome in its decree on communications (Inter Mirifica) said that "the Church believes that its task involves employing the means of social communication to announce the good news of salvation.” This blog is part of that process by the Diocese of Arundel & Brighton to communicate that same good news about Jesus Christ.

Chrism Mass Celebrated at Arundel Cathedral
Yesterday was the beautiful celebration of the Mass of Chrism when clergy and people of the Diocese gather around Bishop Kieran to celebrate not only the blessing of the oils for use in parishes throughout the year but also the renewal of priestly commitment.
Over a hundred priests and deacons walked in solemn procession through a packed Arundel Cathedral to begin Mass. At the end of the Mass Bishop Kieran stayed to speak to the many parishioners who had come to the Cathedral from all over Surrey and Sussex to join in this celebration. He then joined many of the clergy and others including clergy wives in a celebration in St Mary's Hall.

Clergy and people then returned uplifted and renewed in their diocesan identity to begin celebrations on this Thursday evening for the Mass of the Lord's Supper, the first of the three great services that form the Easter Triduum through Good Friday to the Easter Vigil.
