The Second Vatican Council in Rome in its decree on communications (Inter Mirifica) said that "the Church believes that its task involves employing the means of social communication to announce the good news of salvation.” This blog is part of that process by the Diocese of Arundel & Brighton to communicate that same good news about Jesus Christ.

Getting to Grips with the New Translation of the Roman Missal
On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week a small group of people gathered to prepare film material to help with the introduction of the new translation of the Roman Missal which is to start this September. The host parish was St Gabriel's in Billingshurst, West Sussex under their parish priest, Fr Carl Davies.

The day was led and organised by Martin Foster from the Liturgy Office of the Bishops' Conference. Fr John O'Toole, the Head of Southwark Christian Education Centre was the 'Presiding Priest' assisted by Deacons Gerard Irwin and Mark Woods from Arundel and Brighton Diocese and a congregation made up of people from the Diocesse of Arundel & Brighton Christian Education Centre, the local parish, other nearby parishes and elsewhere.
The purpose of the two days was to run through the whole Mass using the new translation to provide an audio/visual resource to use in parishes and elswhere. Look out for it in a few weeks on the special website for the new translation http://www.missal.org.uk/
