Music Resources for the New Translation of the Roman Missal

There are a considerable number of new music resources becoming available to support the new translation which comes into force in September. This includes And with your spirit. The UK RRP of the Double CD is £14.94 including VAT. These resources are all available from the Diocesan Bookshop. As well some of the best deals in the country on the Interim and Final Missal can be obtained from the Bookshop. Music Makers who have produced this CD point out a few things that may be of particular interest: -
  • The Missal includes a great deal of music and by its layout generally encourages priests and people to sing the Mass rather than say it.
  • The CD contains examples of all parts of the Mass sung by priest, deacon and people.
  • In addition to its being a teaching aid for those wishing to sing the Mass, it should also be of interest to those wishing to familiarise themselves with the richness of the language of the new translation.
  • There are two voices singing all the people's parts in order to make a clear distinction between priest and congregation.  This also helps to make the CD as clear as possible.
  • There are full music settings of over 90 Prefaces contained in the Missal.  We are proposing to record and offer these as a FREE RESOURCE for downloading from a website in mp3 file format.  [There are too many to fit on to the CDs]
  • The running time of both CDs is approximately 178 minutes.
  • There is some Latin & Greek in the Altar Missal in addition to the English translation to be used as an alternative, which have been included.
  • The Easter Proclamation (Exsultet) is also included - both short and full versions and sung at 2 pitches to suit different voices
  • Full details of the CD are on the website - http://www.themusicmakers.org/ - sample tracks are also  on the website.

  1. Thanks for mentioning the CD we have produced at The Music Makers. Readers of your blog might also be interested to know that we have produced other resources for the implementation of the new English translation of the Missal including 2 Mass settings and a very useful booklet for choirs and cantors of all the parts of the Mass that the congregation sings. We realise that much of this is available on line free of charge, but we felt that an easy-to-read properly bound booklet would be useful - the cost is £3.00 per copy and we can offer discounts for bulk orders.
