Treasures of Heaven - British Museum 23 June - 10 October

The British Museum has a wonderful exhibition on called Treasures of Heaven which features objects drawn from church treasuries across Europe (including the Vatican), museums in the USA, and the British Museum’s own collection.

It brings together some of the finest sacred treasures of the medieval age, not seen in such significant numbers in the UK since the religious upheaval of the 16th century. Over 150 objects are on display, including three thorns from the Crown of Thorns, fragments of the True Cross, the rib of St Peter, and the Mandylion of Edessa from the Vatican. There are also a related events programme, including a conference, lectures, talks and debates.

You can find out more about the exhibition at

There are special rates for group visits if  parishioners would like to visit the exhibition as part of a larger group, or to partake in exhibition lecture packages (these include coffee and cookies, entry to the exhibition and a lecture by a British Museum expert). Group offers start from as little as 8 people.
