I would also like to thank all those who have accompanied them on the journey – Godparents and sponsors, catechists and clergy, family members and friends. Such support has been so important and the example that has been shown is a gift to our parish communities too.
During Holy Week – the “Great Week” as it has been called – we have, as it were, walked with Christ down the Mount of Olives on Palm Sunday. We have been with Him in the Upper Room and watched with Him in the Garden. We have followed Him on the road to Calvary and waited outside the tomb with Mary Magdalene. The following of that journey is not always easy for us, as we contemplate the suffering and death of the Lamb of God, the Word made Flesh.
Now, with Mary and the Apostles, we rejoice at the Resurrection. Our lives make sense only in the light of the Resurrection of Christ. It is our task – and the newly-baptised join us in this vocation – to proclaim the Risen Christ to the World. May the joy that we find in the Risen Lord inform and enlighten every moment of our lives. May our witness call others to the joy and wonder of Life in Christ.
With every Blessing for this Easter Day.
