On 4 March 2016, candidates for the Permanent Diaconate attended the Graduation Ceremony at St Mary’s University Twickenham to be presented with degrees in Pastoral Ministry. This academic qualification is a requirement for all candidates who are undergoing formation in their journey to being ordained a deacon.

Pictured either side of Bishop Richard are Duncan Brown (left) from the Parish of St Mary Star of the Sea – Hastings and Liam McIlvenny (right) from the Parish of St Edward the Confessor and St. Luke – Keymer with Hurstpierpoint. Both Duncan and Liam are third year students and looking towards ordination in the summer. Bishop Richard is Chair of Governors at St Mary’s University. As well as leading the Service of Thanksgiving, Bishop Richard was present to offer his congratulations to all the graduates and join with them in the celebrations on the day.

You can also some additonal photographs from Bishop Richard's visit to the Southern Programme Diaconate Formation Day on 19 March at St John's Seminary to celebrate Mass, share lunch and meet his own students on the Diocesan Flickr site.
